In this season of Lent, we will dwell in significant lessons from the Gospel of John. On Ash Wednesday, February 18, we began with John’s remarkable prologue and the well-known opening: “In the beginning was the Word.” Over these next five Lenten weekends, we will listen for God’s abiding presence at the wedding of Cana, in Nicodemus’ encounter with Jesus, the Samaritan woman at the well, the man born blind, and the raising of Lazarus. These longer Gospels will be offered in a dialog style, inviting us to experience each moment and all the nuances of relationship, connection, truth, light, identity, and abundance.
We will witness God’s love in Jesus at work in, with, and under each moment. As we journey together to the cross and Easter Sunday, this experience will bring you renewal and a re-grounding in God, who abides with you always. We may not remember every nuance when we gather on Easter Sunday, but we will know, once again, that we are witnesses to the ways of God’s love, grace, and truth that raises us from death to new life and new beginnings.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Peter
