The sacristy renovation, which began on Monday, June 29, is nearly complete. This past week, the cabinets and countertops were installed. This week, the final plumbing and electrical work should be completed. The sanctuary renewal work now turns to the addition of the ADA ramp and the altar and platform renovation.
The ADA ramp will make the chancel fully accessible. As you face the chancel, the ramp will run along the left side, crossing in front of what historically has been the wedding chapel. The ramp will also make the wedding chapel area and sacristy accessible.
The altar will be carefully deconstructed and rebuilt on a frame so that it is moveable. The step up to the altar will be removed and a new marble floor installed. This will make the altar fully accessible. The movable altar will help us support concerts and events by providing a larger chancel area.
The ramp and altar projects will run for several weeks. One of the side chapel altars will be used for worship until we can dedicate the renewed altar, ADA ramp, and sacristy. Thank you for your patience as this work continues.
