Accompaniment is the key principle to remember as we gather to celebrate Global Mission Weekend. This guiding principle comes as a gift from Central American pastors and communities who invite us into the image of walking together, accompanying one another on the journey of faith and life. When we walk with brothers, sisters, and siblings there is mutual conversation, learning, and support. We all have something to offer and to learn along the way. Accompaniment is the official model for Global Mission of the ELCA.
You are invited to visit the global mission partner tables in the Great Room and learn about how we are seeking to walk with one another around the world. One of the blessings this weekend is the presence of Rev. Franklin Ishida. He will help us learn and grow as we seek the pathway of accompaniment around the world and here in our own neighborhoods.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Peter
Welcome Rev. Franklin Ishida
We welcome Rev. Franklin Ishida as our guest preacher. Pastor Franklin serves as the Area Desk Director for Asia and the Pacific for the ELCA. He has been working with the Lutheran Health Care Bangladesh board and ministry these past years to help strengthen our shared work. He will be here to give thanks and celebrate all the ways we walk together in faith around the world.
Pastor Franklin will also speak at the Empowering Conversations forum after lunch at 12:15 p.m. The title of his presentation is: “You name it, we’ve got it: the breadth and scope of ELCA’s global mission engagements in Asia and the Pacific (and a little bit of South Sudan, too).” Plan to join the catered lunch from Himalayan Restaurant after worship and then gather in the sanctuary for this great conversation.
