Confirmation

Confirmation Class

Starting in 6th grade, confirmation is a three-year journey for students to work toward claiming their baptismal promises as their own. For all three years in Confirmation (during the program year), students attend Sunday morning classes to build relationships and learn. Lessons are crafted to teach students about God in a deeper and more significant way than what they experienced in Sunday School. They also learn about the work of the church and why it matters, explore some of Luther’s Small Catechism, and learn what makes a Lutheran a Lutheran.

Retreat and Outdoor Learning

Confirmation students travel to Camp Wapo in Amery, WI for an all-day (sometimes overnight) retreat. We get to know each other better by having fun and exploring. Often named “the best thing about Confirmation” by students at the end of each year, it’s a wonderful way to grow through art, music, and discovery.

During the summer, and with some of our great outdoor ministry partners, Confirmation students are invited to travel to Camp Amnicon in northern Wisconsin or to Christikon in central Montana. Rotating camps each summer, students have the opportunity to paddle down the rivers of the Midwest and hike the mountains of the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. These trips have been a long tradition with the youth from Central and create memories that last a lifetime.
