Sherry Shannon was born and raised in Minneapolis, spending time on both the Southside and the Northside. She received her high school diploma from South High School. Previously, Sherry spent time working as a security officer and a school bus driver and aide. She also worked for Envision Communities, a non-profit working to provide housing in the form of micro housing and shared spaces. Sherry has been working at Central for more than four years as a part of the kitchen staff.
Sherry loves working at Central because she feels the love and finds peace in her work. She has learned a lot and loves that she receives lots of support. In 2019, Sherry received the Dorothy Richardson Award for Resident Leadership.
Sherry likes to be involved in her community. She is a member of StreetSong MN, Street Voices of Change, and regularly advocates and offers testimony for Exodus Lending, an organization addressing predatory lending in MN. Sherry likes going to parks and loves sports and enjoys going to football, baseball, and basketball games. And she’s a huge Vikings fan! Skol!!!
