I was born the youngest of three girls in Minot, North Dakota, but grew up in Valley City, ND. I graduated from Valley City High School, and from Valley City State University with a B.S. in Secondary Education majoring in Business Education and English.
I taught Business Education for five years in Blue Earth, MN, before moving to the Cities. Since then, I have worked as an office manager for Computer Applications (a computer store), church business administrator for Community of the Cross Lutheran Church, Bloomington, and administrator for call process/roster for the Minneapolis Area Synod. I currently work part-time as Assistant to Finance and Realm at Central where I’ve worked the last 6 years.
I love everything about working at Central. This is the healthiest staff I have ever worked with, one that does its best serving others while having a good time together. Working in accounting, my favorite part of my job is reconciling the bank accounts at the end of each month. It’s so satisfying!
In this role I’m using the business skills that I once taught. Also, having worked in the church for over 30 years, I’ve seen how a faith community supports and helps each other. As an Enneagram type 2, I am a Helper and do as much as I can for those I work with/for in this position.
After raising our family in Bloomington, MN, my spouse, Bill, and I moved to downtown Minneapolis 16 years ago. Bill is also in accounting. We have two grown children: Alyssa (married to Nick, grandpuppy Bjorn, 20-month-old grandson Oscar Nicholas, and grandson #2 due in November 2024!) and Jared (married to Andrea, grandpuppy Elly, 10-year-old granddaughter Lizzie Louise).
We like to travel, mainly to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where we recharge our batteries and collect Vitamin D. We also traveled to the Holy Land with Central’s group in January 2023 and recently took a river cruise in Portugal. I also like to read, being a member of a monthly book club of friends. Right now, my main hobby is caregiver to Oscar on Thursdays and Lizzie on Fridays (when school’s out)! It is the best!
I’m just proud and very grateful for my life as a wife, mother, sister, friend, co-worker, and church member. I am proud of everything that is Central! I’m glad we’re here!
