As volunteers in the Free Store, we are blessed every day by seeing a child smile at a new toy, a woman grateful to find clothes for her growing children, a man in need of job interview clothes, and a man looking for a pair of comfortable shoes.
One day, as I was volunteering at the Free Store, I met a couple who needed shoes for the husband. There were very few pairs of shoes to choose from that day, but I had just brought up a bag with 3 pairs of Nikes. I asked what size he wore, and he said “nine.” I looked at the sizes of the Nikes, and they were all 10 ½. He wanted to try them on, anyway. Apparently, he gets gout, and it’s very painful. Lo and behold, they fit! With socks, his feet fit comfortably, and he was so grateful.
