C3 Team Message: Break the Fossil Fuel Habit

Are you addicted to burning fossil fuels? Do you find yourself:

  • “Taking fossil fuels in larger amounts or over a longer period than intended?
  • Wanting to cut down or regulate the use of fossil fuels, with multiple unsuccessful efforts to do so?
  • Spending a great deal of time obtaining and using fossil fuels?
  • Craving fossil fuels?
  • Using fossil fuels so much that it interferes with obligations at work, home, or school?
  • Continuing to use fossil fuels even when it causes social or interpersonal problems?
  • Giving up or reducing important social, occupational, or recreational activities to use fossil fuels?
  • Continuing to use fossil fuels even when it is physically hazardous to do so?
  • Continuing to use fossil fuels despite already having a physical or psychological problem likely to have been caused by fossil fuels?
  • Requiring markedly increased amounts of fossil fuels as time goes on?
  • Developing withdrawal symptoms, such as agitation and irritability, when trying to quit?”

If so, you are not alone. Oil and gas are highly addictive, cause climate change, and contribute to the destruction of our planet. Learn what we can do to break our habit and help save our world.

Faith leader and author of Climate Church, Climate World, Jim Antal, will be our guest speaker at Empowering Conversations on Sunday, April 19, at noon, where he will talk more about how we can break our fossil fuel habits.

The above list is taken from pages 90-91 of “Climate Church, Climate World: How People of Faith Must Work for Change” (Updated and Revised ed.) by Jim Antal, 2023.
