April is Earth Month. How do you and your beloveds plan to celebrate? During Lent we have been talking about Common Elements of Home. Water is one of these elements. We can’t make a home without it. When God created Earth, God provided all that was needed for life. Water is essential to life. We have the same amount of water now as we did when God created the planet.
Eco Challenge has many resources to educate us on how we might advocate for better water use. One simple thing we can do is to take shorter showers or install a water-saving shower head. Showers are one of the leading ways we use water at home. It is nearly 17% of residential indoor water use. That’s 40 gallons a day for an average family. Think of the ways you use this common element in daily life. Recognizing how we use water can help us make changes at home and work.
We can also advocate for protecting our watershed and making good choices about how we use water. God has entrusted us with taking care of creation. There are so many ways we can make changes to better care for creation, especially water. Please take a little time to learn about your water footprint on the Eco Challenge website.
One way we celebrate Earth Month at Central is with an annual Electronics Recycling event! On April 18 and 19, before and after worship, we will be collecting old electronics for proper recycling. Additionally, we will once again have secure paper shredding bins available as well from April 13-May 10.
