Discovering Central’s Heritage: Fine Art
Central’s Docent Ministry Team presents the last of three special summer presentations following worship today in the sanctuary. There will be a “virtual walk through” Central’s extensive collection of fine art. You are invited to get a beverage and treats on the North Plaza and bring them back inside for the presentation.

Panhandling: A Community
Response, Monday, August 23,

This seminar is sponsored by Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness and will address topics including why people panhandle, how citizens can best respond and how community organizations are impacted. Presenters will include previous panhandlers, faith community leaders, businesses, neighborhood groups and police. Free and open to the public. More information at www.dceh.org

Participate in Backpack Sunday!
On Sunday, August 29 all students are invited to bring their backpacks to be blessed during the worship service. Central families are also encouraged to purchase a new backpack, fill it with school supplies and bring it on August 29 to be blessed and to give away. The donated backpacks will be distributed to children and adults in need through Central’s Restoration Center.

Looking Ahead
OWLS to Visit Split Rock Lighthouse,
Thursday, September 30
Join Central’s Older Wiser Lutheran Seniors (OWLS) in celebrating the 100th anniversary of Minnesota’s historic Split Rock Lighthouse on the North Shore of Lake Superior—a full day of travel, departing Central at 8:30 a.m. and returning in early evening. Details and reservations on the North Plaza Sundays, August 22 and 29.
Overnight with the Dolphins—
a family ministry event,
Friday, October 1
Sleep next to the watery world of dolphins and sharks in this unique overnight program at the Minnesota Zoo, including learning from a zoo naturalist and watching a private dolphin training session. It all begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 1 and concludes at 9:00 Saturday morning. A Friday evening snack, Saturday breakfast and a program t-shirt are included for only $10.00 per person.
