“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us”

(2 Corinthians 9:11)

Stewardship Intention Weekend: November 17/18

We are made in the image of a generous God.  In gratitude we prepare to make our financial intentions in worship the weekend of November 17-18.

God is generous. Every day we receive countless gifts from the heart of our generous God. As Martin Luther taught in the Small Catechism, “God gives daily bread… everything included in the necessities and nourishment for our bodies, such as food, drink, clothing, shoes, house, farm, fields, livestock, money, property, an upright spouse, upright children, upright members of the household, upright and faithful rulers, good government, good weather, peace, health, decency, honor, good friends, faithful neighbors, and the like.”

We are generous. We are made in the image of this generous God. In Genesis we hear that good news, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26) We are created for generosity. We are hardwired for generous lives. The new, mission-forward facility is a visible sign of God’s generosity at work in our lives. God empowers the work we are called to do together. We participate through prayer, encouragement and financial support. With God all things are possible.

We hear the call to strategic plans, new goals and possibilities for the ministry and mission of Central Lutheran Church. God’s generosity leads the way. The new facility will support worship in the historic sanctuary, deepen faith formation, create one community and invite us into deeper generosity in response to God’s love in Jesus Christ.

Your God-given generosity is called upon. We continue to fulfill the 3-year commitments to the Building Renewal Capital Appeal. We make our annual faith promises as an act of personal discipleship. The Faith and Finances Ministry Team invite you to begin your prayerful preparation as we look to intention weekend on November 17/18. As a congregation, a key part of our preparation is a special adult forum on Sunday, November 11, the next Anniversary Celebration Weekend. Invitations and reminders will follow on weekends in worship. For now, please note these key dates as we give thanks and respond to God’s surprising joy.
