SUMMARY:High School Summer Youth Trip
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, fifteen youth between the ages of 13 and 18 will travel south to explore the centers of the Civil Rights Movement. With adult chaperones\, we will visit museums and learning centers in Alabama and Georgia to embody the prophetic call to “…do justice\, love kindness\, and walk humbly with God.” For seven days\, students will learn and process Jesus’ call to love our neighbors. The King Museum and the Legacy Museum are two of the most significant places we’ll visit. \n

DESCRIPTION:The 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship is an intimate “First Light” service with Holy Communion. It features hymns and the Word\, musically enriched by vocal soloists. It is a full communion service led by the Casavant organ or the piano. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship and communion. A member of the congregation serves as the assistant minister. The service is based on Lutheran liturgy (service order) and hymn singing. The service lasts about 50 minutes\, and generally\, 60-70 people attend. Following worship\, there is coffee and cookie fellowship time in the Great Room. It is a communion service rooted in Lutheran liturgy and hymns. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship. Congregation members serve as the assisting minister and the lesson readers. A time for children is offered during the service. The service lasts 65 minutes\, and generally 250-300 people attend. Following worship\, there is a community meal served for all. \nIn the summer\, there are scheduled food trucks on some weekends. DESCRIPTION:Summer Break: No Free Store\, No Health Commons\, No Community Meals\, No ERA\, No Streets to Housing\, No Street Voices\, No Spiritual Listening \nThe Restoration Center will be closed this summer for our regular refresh times for staff and building renewal. When we close\, it gives our staff the opportunity to use the vacation time they so faithfully earn. It also helps our community to have clean and refreshed facilities. The summer closures are when we deep clean and paint. The Restoration Center will be closed June 29 through July 9\, reopening on July 13. We will also be closed August 3through August 6\, reopening on August 10. \n

DESCRIPTION:Saturday evening worship is a contemplative communion service. Whichever pastor is preaching on Sunday\, preaches and leads worship on Saturday night. The service is guided by a contemplative sense: a slower pace\, room for silence\, and a simpler service order. The altar is on the main floor\, and much of the music is led from a piano within the gathered community. The service is generally about 45 minutes long\, with 40-50 people regularly gathering.
