DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars now for Vacation Bible School (VBS) scheduled for June 22\, July 13\, and August 10. If you’re not familiar with VBS at Central\, we set aside three Sundays for you to bring kids ages 3 to 11 to church from 9:30–11:30 a.m. where we sing\, play\, learn\, share fun snacks\, and hear stories about Jesus and God’s people throughout history. \nThis summer\, we will explore the question\, “Where did Jesus live?” We’ll look at the city of Bethlehem and what the stable might have looked like. We’ll look at the area around Nazareth and Capernaum and what houses looked like in those cities. And\, we’ll think about where Jesus slept when he was traveling around the cities and communities he visited. SUMMARY:Worship
DESCRIPTION:The 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship has the largest attendance. During the program year (September–May)\, this is a choir-led festive service with Holy Communion. It is a communion service rooted in Lutheran liturgy and hymns. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship. Congregation members serve as the assisting minister and the lesson readers. A time for children is offered during the service. The service lasts 65 minutes\, and generally 250-300 people attend. Following worship\, there is a community meal served for all. \nIn the summer\, there are scheduled food trucks on some weekends. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the Listening for God contemplative prayer group at any time. The group gathers each second Sunday of the month at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Peter leads this prayer gathering grounded in various contemplative prayer practices. Each month a practice is introduced and then experienced. For those that wish to share\, we pause to reflect on the experience and how God is present. It is also a time when you do not need to share anything\, simply be present for this time of prayer. We gather in the prayer space in the back corner of the sanctuary and wrap up by 1:30 p.m.

Each week of the month\, worship has its own flavor\, from testimony times and healing services to confession and forgiveness and Holy Communion. Music is led by members of the worshipping community. DESCRIPTION:Saturday evening worship is a contemplative communion service. Whichever pastor is preaching on Sunday\, preaches and leads worship on Saturday night. The service is guided by a contemplative sense: a slower pace\, room for silence\, and a simpler service order. The altar is on the main floor\, and much of the music is led from a piano within the gathered community. The service is generally about 45 minutes long\, with 40-50 people regularly gathering. DESCRIPTION:The 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship is an intimate “First Light” service with Holy Communion. It features hymns and the Word\, musically enriched by vocal soloists. It is a full communion service led by the Casavant organ or the piano. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship and communion. A member of the congregation serves as the assistant minister. The service is based on Lutheran liturgy (service order) and hymn singing. The service lasts about 50 minutes\, and generally\, 60-70 people attend. Following worship\, there is coffee and cookie fellowship time in the Great Room.
