DESCRIPTION:This summer\, fifteen youth between the ages of 13 and 18 will travel south to explore the centers of the Civil Rights Movement. With adult chaperones\, we will visit museums and learning centers in Alabama and Georgia to embody the prophetic call to “…do justice\, love kindness\, and walk humbly with God.” For seven days\, students will learn and process Jesus’ call to love our neighbors. DESCRIPTION:Saturday evening worship is a contemplative communion service. Whichever pastor is preaching on Sunday\, preaches and leads worship on Saturday night. The service is guided by a contemplative sense: a slower pace\, room for silence\, and a simpler service order. A member of the congregation serves as the assistant minister. The service is based on Lutheran liturgy (service order) and hymn singing. Congregation members serve as the assisting minister and the lesson readers. A time for children is offered during the service. The service lasts 65 minutes\, and generally 250-300 people attend. DESCRIPTION:Trip to Guthrie Theatre for Come and Away\nWe’ll take a quick trip over to the Guthrie for this musical\, inspired by true events. This powerful musical spans the real-life timeline of passengers stranded in Newfoundland when 9/11 closed U.S. airspace\, from the moment they land in the small town of Gander until the last plane departs. We will have lunch at Christos prior to the show. Yes\, we know that this event technically takes place in July (barely)\, but we’ve got something else planned for later in July as well! \n You must have registered in advance for this event in order to attend! \nSign-up at the Welcome Desk: June 7\, 14\, and 21\nCost: $35\nSchedule: \n\nBus leaves Central at 10:45 a.m.\nLunch at Christos at 11 a.m.\nRide the bus to the Guthrie at noon.\nPerformance at 1 p.m.\nReturn to Central at 3:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday evening worship is a contemplative communion service. Whichever pastor is preaching on Sunday\, preaches and leads worship on Saturday night. The service is guided by a contemplative sense: a slower pace\, room for silence\, and a simpler service order. The altar is on the main floor\, and much of the music is led from a piano within the gathered community. The service is generally about 45 minutes long\, with 40-50 people regularly gathering. DESCRIPTION:The 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship is an intimate “First Light” service with Holy Communion. It features hymns and the Word\, musically enriched by vocal soloists. It is a full communion service led by the Casavant organ or the piano. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship and communion. A member of the congregation serves as the assistant minister. The service is based on Lutheran liturgy (service order) and hymn singing. The service lasts about 50 minutes\, and generally\, 60-70 people attend. Following worship\, there is coffee and cookie fellowship time in the Great Room. It is a communion service rooted in Lutheran liturgy and hymns. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship. Congregation members serve as the assisting minister and the lesson readers. A time for children is offered during the service. The service lasts 65 minutes\, and generally 250-300 people attend. Following worship\, there is a community meal served for all. \nIn the summer\, there are scheduled food trucks on some weekends.
