DESCRIPTION:After a 10-year absence\, we are going to experiment with a Wednesday night learning time for our high school students. In addition to our Sunday morning fellowship time\, we are planning to meet on the 3rd Wednesday night of each month to learn about and discuss the church’s role in our young people’s lives. We will tend to the big questions about faith\, a life centered in Christ\, and the ways in which we are called to love and serve our neighbors. \nWe will begin the season on Wednesday\, October 22 at 7 p.m. (This is the 4th Wednesday in order to avoid MEA; all other Wednesdays will follow the 3rd Wednesday rule.) Healthy snacks will be provided\, and we will meet from 7 – 8:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:The seasons of Advent and Christmas can be hopeful and joyful. They can also be challenging days as people tend to grief and loss during the holiday season. Once again\, this year\, a “Blue Christmas” worship service is offered to tend to healing during grief and to name the challenges of the season. We will gather for this service of healing on Saturday\, December 20 at the 5 p.m. service. There will be time to light candles and remember\, receive prayers for healing and comfort\, and gather with others during the complexity of the season. DESCRIPTION:The 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship is an intimate “First Light” service with Holy Communion. It features hymns and the Word\, musically enriched by vocal soloists. It is a full communion service led by the Casavant organ or the piano. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship and communion. A member of the congregation serves as the assistant minister. The service is based on Lutheran liturgy (service order) and hymn singing. The service lasts about 50 minutes\, and generally\, 60-70 people attend. Following worship\, there is coffee and cookie fellowship time in the Great Room. Congregation members serve as the assisting minister and the lesson readers. A time for children is offered during the service. The service lasts 65 minutes\, and generally 250-300 people attend. DESCRIPTION:On December 22 at 11 a.m. we will celebrate the Birth of Jesus in worship with a service of lessons and carols. It will be led from the congregation who gathers\, so if you would like to participate by reading one of the lessons\, please arrive a bit early and let Pastor Melissa know. Isaac Drewes will lead us in singing many of our favorite Christmas carols that help welcome in the season. DESCRIPTION:The Augsburg Central Health Commons\nAnyone looking for diapers\, hygiene supplies\, one-on-one nurse consultations\, or just to have a place to sit and rest are welcome. Volunteers often spend time visiting with members of the community\, distributing donations\, and setting up the space. Faculty\, students\, and volunteers also provide basic care such as blood pressure checks or basic foot care. The hope is that the moments here can allow guests to address their health needs as they deem necessary\, and the work can lead to addressing health inequities and foster healing.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday evening worship is a contemplative communion service. Whichever pastor is preaching on Sunday\, preaches and leads worship on Saturday night. The service is guided by a contemplative sense: a slower pace\, room for silence\, and a simpler service order. The altar is on the main floor\, and much of the music is led from a piano within the gathered community. The service is generally about 45 minutes long\, with 40-50 people regularly gathering.
