DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join the Listening for God contemplative prayer group at any time. The group gathers each second Sunday of the month at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Peter leads this prayer gathering grounded in various contemplative prayer practices. Each month a practice is introduced and then experienced. For those that wish to share\, we pause to reflect on the experience and how God is present. It is also a time when you do not need to share anything\, simply be present for this time of prayer. We gather in the prayer space in the back corner of the sanctuary and wrap up by 1:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:The Augsburg Central Health Commons\nAnyone looking for diapers\, hygiene supplies\, one-on-one nurse consultations\, or just to have a place to sit and rest are welcome. Volunteers often spend time visiting with members of the community\, distributing donations\, and setting up the space. Faculty\, students\, and volunteers also provide basic care such as blood pressure checks or basic foot care. The hope is that the moments here can allow guests to address their health needs as they deem necessary\, and the work can lead to addressing health inequities and foster healing.

DESCRIPTION:After a 10-year absence\, we are going to experiment with a Wednesday night learning time for our high school students. In addition to our Sunday morning fellowship time\, we are planning to meet on the 3rd Wednesday night of each month to learn about and discuss the church’s role in our young people’s lives. We will tend to the big questions about faith\, a life centered in Christ\, and the ways in which we are called to love and serve our neighbors. \nWe will begin the season on Wednesday\, October 22 at 7 p.m. (This is the 4th Wednesday in order to avoid MEA; all other Wednesdays will follow the 3rd Wednesday rule.) Healthy snacks will be provided\, and we will meet from 7 – 8:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:The seasons of Advent and Christmas can be hopeful and joyful. They can also be challenging days as people tend to grief and loss during the holiday season. Once again\, this year\, a “Blue Christmas” worship service is offered to tend to healing during grief and to name the challenges of the season. We will gather for this service of healing on Saturday\, December 20 at the 5 p.m. service. There will be time to light candles and remember\, receive prayers for healing and comfort\, and gather with others during the complexity of the season. All are welcome as we gather to care for one another\, sing songs of hope\, and look to God for healing and comfort.

DESCRIPTION:The 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship is an intimate “First Light” service with Holy Communion. It features hymns and the Word\, musically enriched by vocal soloists. It is a full communion service led by the Casavant organ or the piano. One of the pastors preaches\, and another presides for worship and communion. A member of the congregation serves as the assistant minister. The service is based on Lutheran liturgy (service order) and hymn singing. The service lasts about 50 minutes\, and generally\, 60-70 people attend. Following worship\, there is coffee and cookie fellowship time in the Great Room. Congregation members serve as the assisting minister and the lesson readers. A time for children is offered during the service. The service lasts 65 minutes\, and generally 250-300 people attend. Following worship\, there is a community meal served for all. \nIn the summer\, there are scheduled food trucks on some weekends. One of the ways children embody their faith is by retelling the story of Jesus. There is no better way to begin their faith journey than by putting on the costumes\, singing the songs\, and reading the story of Jesus’ birth. While children will learn about Jesus through scripture and worship\, they embrace Jesus as a baby because Jesus\, the newborn\, is familiar. Jesus the newborn was once a child\, just like they are.
