All Saints’ Weekend

All Saints’ Weekend

Saturday, November 2, 5 p.m.
Sunday, November 3, 8:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.
Monday, November 4, 11 a.m.
You are invited to a beautiful weekend of All Saints’ remembrances during worship on November 2, 3, and 4. We will light candles and read the names of those saints who have died in this past year. You are also encouraged to write the names of your beloveds in our Book of Remembrances, which is on a stand near the side chapel as you enter the sanctuary. Also, the Central Columbarium will be open Saturday, from 4:30-5:15 p.m. and Sunday, from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for All Saints’ Weekend.

The choir is singing Fauré’s Requiem on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. as a musical offering for our celebration of the saints. Join your friends and family at Central for this beautiful weekend of remembrance.

Central Lutheran has a tradition of ringing the tower bells to announce the resurrection, especially at the conclusion of funeral services and during the Easter season. On All Saints Weekend,  we remember those who have already joined the heavenly chorus by again ringing the bells with a “resurrection peal.” Saturday, November 2 is a chance to join a tour of the bell tower and experience the bells ringing the resurrection peal up-close. Join a tour guide at the Welcome Desk beginning at 3 p.m. for the first climb of the six flights of stairs up to the bells. The history of the bell tower and a chance to play a tune of the carillon are all part of the experience. Additional tours will start every half hour with the last one at 4:30 p.m.
A few reminders:
  • There is no elevator so everyone will need to be able to climb the six flights of stairs on their own power.
  • Children are welcome but they must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Dress appropriately with good climbing shoes. The tower is not heated, so a jacket or sweatshirt is a good idea, too.
