“Augsburg University and Hope”
January 22

Join this engaging adult forum with Dr. Paul Pribbenow, President of Augsburg University. We will reflect on the changing face of Augsburg, their call in the neighborhood, and the partnership with Central Lutheran. In each of these nuances, there is cause for great hope.

“Strategic Initiatives”
January 29

The Congregation Council has been at work for several years, deeply listening for God and engaging with some key resource people. How is God calling us to the ways of compassion, care, advocacy, and justice on this corner of the world? This late winter and spring the Council will invite you to a cottage meeting to ponder the many pathways that are possible, and to a shared listening for God’s call. At this forum, Pastor Peter will share the details of this work and the next steps as we look to the Annual Meeting, set for Sunday, February 12.

Wednesday Night Bible Study

Wednesday nights, 6-7 p.m. beginning January 11

It is the new year, so time for a great new year’s resolution: tend to faith growth through Bible study!

You are invited to the Winter session of the Wednesday night Bible study. It is a study offered in person or on Zoom, a hybrid offering that is working well in this post-covid time. The Bible study meets from 6-7 p.m. The class materials are written by the pastors and seek to balance learning about the Bible, conversation, and a deepened awareness of God at work in your life and the world.

This winter we turn to two remarkable parts of Matthew’s Gospel: The Sermon on the Mount and the unique parables in Matthew. Jesus offers the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapters 6-9. It is foundational in this gospel and draws us into the deep love ethic of Jesus. After study and conversation on the sermon, we will turn to some of the unique parables of Jesus recorded in Matthew’s Gospel.

Pastor Peter and Pastor Melissa will take turns leading these sessions as we grow in faith together. The study is offered in person or on Zoom, a great hybrid opportunity. No previous Bible study experience is needed; each session stands on its own, so join when you are able!
