Book Study: “Jesus and the Disinherited”

Study, Art and Prayer Experience on the Letter to the Hebrews: “The Cloud of Witnesses”

Sunday, August 7 at 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday, August 10 at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 14 at 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday, August 17, at 6:00 p.m.

“The Cloud of Witnesses” is a study, art and prayer experience you are invited to engage.  The first session on Sunday, August 7, will be led by retired Pastor Glenn Moberg. He has created a series of wire sculptures that resemble simple line drawings of faces. A large ‘cloud’ of white fabric forms a wide circle surrounding the sculptures. When you enter this cloud, you see the sculpture images duplicated in shadows on the undulating cloud. You hear gentle voices reminding us we are surrounded by God’s messengers. God works through ordinary people, and the cloud invites you to remember and discover the ways gospel people have brought liberation and blessing into your life.

At each session we will reflect on the Hebrews lesson and then pause for the art and prayer experience. Because this is an interactive experience it can only be offered in person in the sanctuary.

Pastor Glenn shares this reflection: “In God’s economy we are we are not alone.  This moving art encounter uses visual, auditory and personal experience to remind us we are surrounded by godsend people who have helped shape us. God works through everyday people.”

Pastors Stephanie, Melissa and Peter will each lead one of the sessions, as well.
