Prayer is a strong wall and fortress of the church.

— Martin Luther

Types of Prayer: Petition

And I tell you, Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks is will be opened.

Luke 11: 9-10

Petitionary Prayer

With these comforting words, it is indeed a privilege at any time we may tell God our troubles, ask for God’s help and have God’s assurance that God will listen and do what is best for us. For petitionary prayers to be effective, we need faith our prayers will be answered, so be positive and persistent. In other words, don’t give up.

As our relationship with God grows, likewise does our prayer life. Since God yearns to hear from us, take time to not only speak with God, but also be still and listen to the small voice from within. We live in a busy, active world but prayer can be with us as we drive, work, walk, wait and sleep.
