Heading Home Central
This ministry team is the advocacy arm of Central's Community Ministries.
What does the Lord require of us? To seek justice, to show love and to walk humbly with our God. - Micah 6:8
VISION
Restored to wholeness by Christ's redeeming love, we envision a community where the basic human needs of all are met with dignity, justice and opportunity.
MISSION
Heading Home Central seeks to share God's wholeness with all in our community by working to eliminate homelessness, prevent poverty, and promote social justice through legislative advocacy, community education, awareness raising, and community organizing.
GOALS
1. Raise awareness about homelessness and poverty by educating the Central community on the issues and injustices that impact people living in poverty
2. Advocate for legislative action that brings about the systemic changes needed to eliminate homelessness and prevent poverty
3. Organize and empower the congregation and members of the greater community, including persons experiencing homelessness, to use their civic voices to speak out for justice
4. Work in partnership with DCEH and other community organizations to identify issues of injustice and to effect change for the common good
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Restoration Center.
We are an active member of Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness.
