Community Ministries and Advocacy
The Community Ministries program at Central Lutheran Church is a thriving model of urban ministry in heart of the city. The purpose of the program is to build healthy community with God at the center by serving those most in need. Community Ministries is made up of direct services to the most vulnerable, advocacy for systemic change, and education on the issues of homelessness and poverty. The Community Ministries program works in collaboration with Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness.
The Restoration Center
The Restoration Center is an outreach/community center serving people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Minneapolis. Most of Central’s direct services to people in need take place in this center. The Restoration Center includes: financial services, employment services, clothing, meals, worship, Bible study, computers, support groups, AA, and more! The Augsburg-Central Nursing Center which provides basic medical services is also located within the Restoration Center. The Community Outreach Ministry Team oversees the ministry of this center.

Advocacy
Micah 6:8 says, “And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice…” At Central we do direct services (charity) and advocacy (social justice); we recognize that people have both immediate and long term needs. The advocacy work we do is primarily focused on ending homelessness in this community. Systemic change is necessary to end homelessness and poverty in our city. The Heading Home Central Ministry Team envisions and implements our advocacy work. We work in strong partnership with Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness.
