Central's Community Ministries

Central Lutheran shares the love of Christ by serving members in the community around us by offering free food, clothing, and referrals to community programs. Central also has a long tradition of opening its doors during business hours to members of the homeless community and offering fellowship and a warm place to sit.

Mealtime
On Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, a free hot meal is served to about 200 persons each week.

Clothes Closet
Free clothing for men, women and children is available on a first come basis on Monday from 10am to 12 and Thursday from 1pm to 2:30 pm. We also have a limited store of household items including sheets and towels, pots and pans, etc. that we give during this time.

Volunteer Opportunities
1.    Assist with meal preparation in the kitchen on Mondays from 7:30am until 12:30, or a portion of that time.
2.    Sort and organize clothing and household goods in the Clothes Closet on Mondays from 7:30 until 12:30 and/or Thursdays from 10am to 2:30pm.
3.    Donate clothes, household goods, and hygiene products, etc.

Immediate Needs
Central can assist with co-pays for dental, optical, medical, and pharmaceutical expenses. Some emergency financial assistance (including rental assistance) is also available on a case by case basis. Bus cards are available to those who are newly employed. Referrals for housing, medical, and other community programs are also available.

For inquiries about this assistance, one must apply in person during Office Hours on Monday 9-11, Tuesday 2-4, Wednesday 9-11, and Thursday 9-11.

Augsburg Nursing Center

In partnership with Augsburg College, registered nurses are available to provide basic medical services such as blood pressure check, foot care, and other medical needs.
