Dear Central Member,

“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it,” the writer sings in Psalm 24. All things…always…all God’s—imagine it!  Ours is an Alpha and Omega God; the beginning and end of all things.  Everything issued from God, to our world, to you and I—all of it and all of us return to the original Giver.

What shall God’s people do with such a notion in the meantime? As we live on that circle we call “life,”entrusted with so much for so little time, we are reminded that what we do with it matters to God.  Being a faithful steward is our life assignment.  And though faithful stewardship encompasses time, talents, as well as treasure, this year—over the course of the next 3 weeks in worship and through the mail—we will focus in clearly on generous and sacrificial giving—the kind of giving that God models for us in Jesus, and challenges us to live into.

These are extraordinary economic times in which we live, but all the more reason for us to talk a bit about our need at Central for an exceptional and extraordinary effort of all to give more than ever before through the Church you claim as “home.”

Will you join me in praying for God to accomplish this in us this year? Will you consider making offerings that reflect the abundance with which you have been blessed? Will you trust God to bless these gifts, increase them, and to take care of us still?

Blessings,

The Rev. Rick Nelson
