Financial commitments top $900,000!
 July 4, 2010

In what Pastor Rick Nelson calls "another first" for Central Lutheran Church, financial commitments for the current fiscal year, which began June 1, now total $909,684—the result of pledges from 395 Central households. Of the households that pledged last year, 136  increased their commitment for the coming year by an average of nearly 21%. There are 89 households that have pledged for the first time and their commitments total nearly $150,000.

"The great work that God is busy with among us is further evidenced by the gracious and generous written commitments for giving in the coming year," said Pastor Rick. "Reaching almost $910,000 is another first in the life of Central.  I am thrilled with how so many within our community of faith have been captured by God for passionate generosity," he said.

The financial commitments are in response to this year's annual stewardship emphasis, "Stewardship in the Round," the concepts of which were introduced by Pastor Rick Nelson in an article in the The Spirit on April 18. As part of the emphasis, a 30 minute film was sent to all member households. The DVD featured five Centralites—Diane Nimmer, Harris Lee, Roberta Groening, Ron Fiscus and Kristen Jacobson—in a "roundtable discussion" with Pastor Rick about faithful stewardship of the financial resources that God has entrusted to us.

It is anticipated that even more commitments will come in the days ahead as Central members respond to a follow up letter mailed last week. Pledge cards are also available in the pew racks and at the Church Office.
