March 18, 2010  6:00 pm to 7:00 pm

"Families Commune: Breaking Bread Together."  Children and adults interested in taking their first Communion or “refreshing your call to the table” are invited to a one-evening class at 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 123. Bring a loaf of bread. We will be making sandwiches out of the bread provided as we explore the theological importance of breaking bread together and sharing the body of Christ. Sign up on the “Family Board” near Fellowship Hall. Our First Communion Festival will be Holy Thursday, April 1 during the evening Lenten service. For more information contact Youth and Family Ministries Coordinator Greer Cherney.

Colombia Memories Museum,  with Rev. John Nunes, President, Lutheran World Relief. This is an expanded luncheon gathering of the Joint Peace with Justice Committee of the ELCA Minneapolis and St. Paul Area Synods, to commemorate the National Day of Prayer for Colombia, and to launch the 2-year national tour of the exhibit, "Remember Me: Voices of the Silenced in Colombia." The exhibit, or “gallery of memory,” has been created by Lutheran World Relief (LWR) to bring awareness of 50 years of violence and brutality in Colombia--a conflict that has literally affected every social and economic class, every village, and every city. The program will include two women from Colombia, both victims of the violence. Twin Cities Peace with Justice forums, initiated in March 2003, are held at Central one Sunday each month, beginning with lunch at 12:30 p.m., followed by a presentation and discussion. Lunch is available for $7. Forum attendees may park free in Central’s lot.
