This past year with you has been one filled with great blessings and hopefulness. It has been my pleasure to serve God with you in this time and in this place as we seek together what is God’s will for us.
Some of the highlights from this past year include:
•The great pleasure of working alongside Amanda Highben and our Youth Ministry Team in the process of programming for our youth and family ministries. And then learning of the sad news that we must send her on to greater learning and new paths of ministry. She will be greatly missed but I am blessed to have her legacy of ministry with us!
•Seven highly engaged students were confirmed this year. Each Sunday of the academic year we have met for an hour of learning between the morning worship services discovering together the faith development that Luther’s Catechism blesses us with in this time.
•Each Monday morning I witness the faithful servants in our midst who serve meals and share clothing in the Clothes Closet, along with the outstanding ministry of the Augsburg Nurses. In this time I have the amazing and humbling opportunity to preach at our Monday Morning Worship Service of Restoration where folks gather in this space to hear words of hope and life.
•I traveled on retreat with youth and families to both Camp Amnicon and Gustavus College as well as participation in the Aliveness Project and Night on the Street.
•This past year of working alongside Rolf Lowenberg-DeBoer, our Community Ministries Coordinator has been an amazing gift of development and a great honor. Rolf has flourished and developed relationships within our congregation and community as he has enhanced the ministry of caring for God’s people in need.
•We had the very exciting opportunity early this year to open The Restoration Center and move the ministries of the Central Clothes Closet and verifiable gifts program into this new space. We continue to prayerfully develop and plant seeds of Restorative ministries. Thank you for your generous ongoing investment in this cutting edge ministry!!
•Both Rolf and I have had the opportunity to work with Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness team and welcome Heidi Johnson, the new DCEH Coordinator to this work.
•I continue to participate in Project Homeless Connect events as well as many other events and ministry team opportunities with the gifted ministry teams that connect with me regularly.
•I continue to enjoy the outstanding privilege of leading worship with you and preaching in your pulpit. As Pastors Rick, Foy and I are led by God’s calling to serve you in worship, know that we have great joy in this process!
•I continue to be honored by invitations into your lives, into your struggles, into your grief, into your parenting and into your new married lives. I have been humbled by your kindness and generosity and grace.
•I have had the great blessing of wonderful pastoral colleagues and consider both Pastor Rick and Pastor Foy to be good and trusted friends in this endeavor to serve God with you.
Know that I continue to thank God daily for you and this opportunity to be your pastor!
